CBDC wallet uses ancient tradition to boost adoption.

The digital yuan wallet app includes a virtual version of a traditional Chinese money-gifting method. China's digital yuan wallet app introduced an electronic version of traditional "red packets" to attract new users. The new feature was released over the weekend, one month before Chinese New Year on Jan. 22. "Red packets," called hongbao in China, are used to gift money during Chinese New Year and other celebrations. WeChat Pay and Alipay offer virtual red envelopes for digital payments. The e-CNY app allows a red packet to be sent to one person or a "lucky draw" can be set up for a group of people to get a random amount from a pool of funds. WeChat Pay and Alipay have a similar feature. Users can choose a packet cover with new year, birthday, and "prosperous China" wishes. Digital yuan transactions surpassed $14 billion (100 billion yuan) on Oct. 10, a 14% increase from the $12 billion (87.6 billion yuan) reported at the end of 2021. The e-...

Top exchange ETH staking contributes to censorship

Crypto ecosystems and exchanges censoring MEV relays harms Ethereum's neutrality. Federal sanctions hurt the global reach of most crypto ecosystems. Ethereum investors have significant power over the ecosystem's compliance. 60% of post-Merge Ethereum blocks comply with OFAC sanctions (OFAC). While the crypto community opposes this change, many don't realize their own contribution to OFAC compliance. Crypto ecosystems and exchanges censoring MEV relays harms Ethereum's neutrality. MEV relays are used by Binance, Celsius Network, Coinbase, Kraken, and Cream Finance, to name a few. Etheron users who run censoring MEV relays on their validators contribute to Ethereum censorship. Adopting a non-censoring MEV-boost relay can help crypto platforms. Ultra Sound Money, Agnostic Boost, Aestus, BloXroute Max Profit, BloxRoute Ethical, Manifold, and Relayooor are popular MEV-boost relays that don't promote censorship. 67 of the last 100 Ethereum blocks enforced OFAC compliance ...

"Buckle up," warned Louis Navellier, founder of Navellier & Associates, a growth investing business. "One would want to believe that all of the terrible news is in. There are no more Fed movements until February at the earliest. We're not gapping down, but we're also not recouping last week's losses." Fears that the Federal Reserve coul...

The World Cup in Argentina will take place during another period of rising inflation.

According to a report by Bloomberg, as the Argentine national soccer team gets ready for the World Cup championship game on Sunday, annual inflation in the country is expected to hit 99% this month and economists anticipate it will soon top three figures. Inflation in Argentina averaged 116% in 1986, the year that Diego Maradona led the Albiceleste to victory in the Copa America. According to the data and surveys provided by the central bank, the inflation rate in 1978 was 176%. This was the year that Argentina won the tournament it hosted. Lionel Messi, who was born in 1987, the year after Argentina won the World Cup, and who is widely regarded by fans as the player most likely to inherit Maradona's legendary reputation, will make his final World Cup appearance against France. A nation that is once again going through difficult economic times has been elated by the team's run to the final match, which has included avoiding early elimination and posting five straight wins. There have been reports of explosions in the capital of Ukraine, and emergency services have been mobilized.

Three explosions were heard in the center of Kyiv as the Ukrainian government said that it had shot down a number of drones made by the Iranian company Shahed. The mayor, Vitali Klitschko, stated that ten Shahed drones had been brought down by Ukraine's air defenses, and that emergency services had been sent to the Shevchenkivskyi neighborhood in the center part of the city. He continued by saying, "Details later," which was posted on his Telegram channel. Independent confirmation of Klitschko's assertion was not available in this instance. A politician in Ukraine named Oleksiy Goncharenko stated on Twitter that he had heard three explosions around 6:30 local time (04:30 GMT). At 5.55 a.m. (03:55 GMT), the air-raid siren went off, and inhabitants were instructed to remain in bomb shelters until they received the all clear. According to what Goncharenko wrote, "Ukrainians wake up not from alarm clocks but rather from explosions." "Many thanks go to our c...

Hong Kong will remove most bar and restaurant prohibitions to curb Covid.

Hong Kong will abolish some of its last Covid-19 limitations, which have hurt the city's economic and financial position. From tomorrow, new travelers won't be restricted from accessing restaurants and bars within three days of arrival, and residents won't have to scan a tracing app to enter cafes, pubs, and other establishments. Hong Kong's chief executive, John Lee, said imported cases pose less risk than community infections. Beijing reversed its zero-Covid policy this month, leading to a surge in infections. Hong Kong was never subject to the same limitations as the rest of China, but it had its own elimination program and weeks-long official quarantines until an epidemic this year. In September, the city ended its mandatory passenger quarantine. Hong Kong's pandemic rules are stricter than in other cities. Lee said the city's "vaccine pass" system will stay. Residents must show their immunization status on a government app.

How is the United Kingdom utilizing Brexit to alter finance?

IS THIS BIG BANG 2.0? Not quite, but it does reflect a tilt in the regulatory pendulum from years of boosting bank capital requirements and enforcing consumer protections to considering what modifications are necessary to make rules function better for the United Kingdom after Brexit. Initially touted as a Big Bang 2.0 on par with the extensive 1980s share trading reforms, the measures have been renamed the "Edinburgh Reforms" after the city in which they were formally introduced by finance minister Jeremy Hunt. The administration has toned down its rhetoric, maintaining that there would be no "race to the bottom," significant departure from international norms, or elimination of investor protections, but that authorities should enhance the international competitiveness of the financial sector. Given the need to avoid 'unlearning' lessons from the 2008 global financial crisis, Hunt stated that it would be incorrect to refer to the reforms as a Big Bang and e...

Dar asserts the economy is headed in the right path.

Despite the opposition's propaganda, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar stated on Saturday that Pakistan is headed in the right direction and will not default on its debt. "Pakistan will not default because of opposition propaganda alone" (Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf). During a meeting with businesses, Mr. Dar stated, "The country's direction is correct, and it is not headed towards default." PTI Chairman Imran Khan and other party leaders have predicted that Pakistan will fail due to the "bad policies" of the PML-N-led coalition government. Mr. Khan believes that the nation's economy can only be stabilized if a stable government takes office following new elections and addresses the crisis. Mr. Dar added that the opposition was detrimental to the country's "economic cause." In addition, the opposition attempts to discourage foreign investment in the country by spreading corruption rumors. He emphasized that the PTI must demonstrate a seriou...

China's production prices are falling, while consumer inflation is slowing due to weak demand.

China's factory-gate prices fell for the second month in a row in November, but consumer inflation slowed, signaling lackluster activity and soft demand in an economy hampered by severe economic controls. Analysts predicted that the government would keep interest rates low and take steps to encourage confidence. According to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) statistics released on Friday, the producer pricing index (PPI) was down 1.3% year on year, unchanged from the annual decrease reported in October. This was slower than the 1.4% drop predicted in a Reuters poll. The November consumer price index (CPI) climbed at its weakest rate in eight months, rising 1.6% year on year, less than the 2.1% annual increase observed in October but in line with a Reuters poll. "These data indicate that the economic momentum (continues) to deteriorate," said Zhiwei Zhang, chief economist at Pinpoint Asset Management. A high-level political meeting of the ruling Communist Party's Pol...

Investors assess the outlook for rates and the economy as the dollar rises.

Major central bank decisions from the Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank, and the Bank of England will all be announced the following week. Whether inflation has peaked and given policymakers more room to deliver gradual interest rate increases over the coming months is the crucial question for traders and investors. A day before the Fed's policy meeting on December 14th, the U.S. government will also release monthly consumer inflation data, which might play a significant role in determining longer-term expectations for monetary policy. Until we get those central bank meetings and one important monthly U.S. data release, not much is happening, according to RBC currency analyst Adam Cole. "U.S. CPI is the one data release that seems to truly matter for broader dollar movement at the moment," Cole said. In general, the dollar held steady versus a variety of important currencies. The euro last traded at $1.0507 against the dollar, unchanged, while the pound dropped b...

Oil prices fall near to 2022 lows due to economic concerns, alleviating

Brent crude fell near to its yearly low on Wednesday, weighed down by recession fears and fading concerns that a Western cap on Russian oil prices would drastically reduce supply. Large U.S. banks' warnings about the likelihood of a recession next year weighed on and supported the U.S. dollar. A higher dollar makes oil more expensive for foreign currency holders and tends to decrease the appetite for risk assets. At 10:20 GMT, Brent crude slid $1.05, or 1.3%, to $78.30 a barrel. Earlier, it reached $77.74, the lowest level since January 3. U.S. crude fell $1.24, or 1.7%, to $73.01 and reached a low of $72.25 not seen since late December. Claudio Galimberti, senior vice president at Rystad Energy, remarked, "There is still a great deal of uncertainty in the markets today," adding that crude oil production in Russia may not decline as much as anticipated. Brent fell below $80 on Tuesday for only the second time in 2022, erasing the year's gains that had pushed prices ne...

What exactly is a rising wedge, and how does it manifest itself in the chart?

A bearish chart pattern known as a rising wedge is formed by the intersection of two trend lines at the pattern's focal point. The lines of trend eventually ascend to converge upon one another. The first trend line draws a connection between the most recent higher lows and lower highs, while the second trend line draws a connection between the most recent lows. The resulting form resembles a triangle with an acute angle at one of its sides. A falling wedge is the pattern that results from a rising wedge. Due to the fact that the low is higher than the high and the lower trend line is steeper than the upper one, the rising wedge pattern has the potential to be interpreted as a bearish rising wedge. The only elements that differentiate the falling wedges from one another, despite the fact that they have a similar shape, are the angle at which the triangle is positioned and what the pattern represents. The rising wedge (ascending) pattern is considered to be a bearish pattern since it...

How Can You Recognize an Upward Trending Wedge?

In Its Precise Form, What Is the Rising Wedge Pattern? On the cryptocurrency market, the rising wedge is a popular price reversal pattern that may be easily forecast. There is a possibility that the pattern will indicate the range and direction of future pricing. Because it is so simple to spot, this pattern is favored by a great number of traders. During an uptrend, the formation of a rising wedge pattern occurs when the price maintains its position between a support level and a resistance level. When looking at this pattern, you'll notice that the slope of the support line is almost always steeper than the slope of the resistance line. It's possible that this slope indicates that higher lows formed faster than higher highs, which would give the structure a wedge shape. The rising wedge pattern can often be interpreted as having a bearish connotation, which is where the term "rising wedge bearish" comes from. There is a possibility that a rising wedge will cause a tr...
